BOH BOH (Boh's Big ol' House)

Boh is buying a house. She needs some inspiration to put it all together.. Drum roll..

Here is my main inspiration photo. I'd like to do something similar to this- but a little less old:

Change out the light fixture with this (has Ho HO written all over it. Sparkle, shabby chic, luxury...)

Add a contrasting chair with a nice cushion:

Recent purchases... (I know. I'm not supposed to be shopping.)

Yeah Yeah. I know. I wasn't supposed to be shopping, but then BAM! There I was. Buying (on sale of course :)

Anyway...

ARGHGHGHG!!! I just realized this was not the skirt I had been stalking for three months. That skirt was the super 120's high pencil skirt. This one is close, but not the fabric I was interested in :( I guess she's a casualty of war.

Super 120's Jane Dress- $140.00 + 20% off

Love the classic lines of this dress. I was torn between Navy and Tea Rose- maybe for Christmas if it's still around I'll buy a second.

DVF Floral Chiffon Wrap Top- Ebay Find- $40

A bit of an impulse buy, but it was 80 percent off.

DVF Formentara silk cami- Ebay Find- $14.00

Another impulse buy- but I thought it'd look cute under a sweater :)

A (sort of?) ridiculous want...

Monique Lhuiillier is coming out with a line of bridesmaid dresses for Spring 10'- granted, I don't plan on being a bridesmaid anytime soon- I just want one of these dresses for cocktail attire. Posted below, is my favorite from the line:

*Swooooooon* I'd love to see it in Navy.

Maureen's (maybe) must haves

A few weeks ago I published my must have's from the new arrivals at J. Crew. What can I say? I fall in love very easily, and out of love just as fast. Already, there's 3 items on my list that I can and will live without. I typically wait to purchase items until they are on sale, this gives me time to sleep on the purchase and figure out whether or not the item is something I really really really want. My bookmark's are starting to add up, so I thought I'd post a few of the items I'm watching and may add to the collection...

Victorio Dress in Black or Ruby- $398

The dress sort of reminds me of "dynasty" by Nanette Lepore- but much more sophisticated. I stalked Nanette's dynasty for about six month on ebay- when I saw this on DVF's site I immediately was happy I didn't buy the Nanette dress. What are the chances I'll purchase this dress when it goes on sale? 70 percent.

This was love at first site- which puts me on alert. I LOVE it. Love. Love. Love. <3>

I promised myself I would never buy clothing from Victorias's Secret again. I hate their clothing. I've bought so many items that have been ill fitting or I never wear because they're so trendy and are out of style in a snap of a finger. However. I really like this dress. It reminds me of a less formal Herve Ledger. Chances I'll buy? 60 percent.

So.. what do you all stalk?

BOH's wedding to the Ginger (it's my blog.. I can call him what I want!)

BOH's been talking real serious about this Ginger guy (he doesn't like I call him that, but since this is my blog, I do what I want. You know that's right!)

Here is my inspiration board, courtesy of polyvore...

I've picked her invitations as well... typically I would want to make them by hand, but since Ginger's last name is "Wood" I thought these wooden invitations from Oslo Press may

I've been fighting the urge to do something really stupid...

Oh Kate Spade. Why did you have to come out with a fall line that is exceptional?
*sigh*

I've been so close to doing some real damage and purchasing a few of these tops from Kate Spade. I've resisted the urge thus far, and am hoping this it goes on sale.

I've got to say- This top really reminds me of the new Francis blouse at J. Crew. While I love the Kate Spade version, I think I'll stick with buying the less expensive J. Crew version. It's so pretty though!

Broom Street Cassie Cardigan- $255

I love the simple twists on the sleeves... and where you wear this on top of the...

Madeline Dot Balloon Sleeve Bow Blouse- $265

eeeee!!!!! I love this top. This has been in my basket so many times.. I've haven't worked up the guts for the final purchase yet. And now... due to my inability to commit to such an expensive purchase... IT'S SOLD OUT IN MY SIZE.

Do you have any items you're eyeing? Does anyone else feel guilty spending THAT much on an article of clothing?

Uhh... so much for the shopping sabbatical.

Yeah. So... I haven't blogged in awhile. I've been doing my best not to *shop*.
I suck.

Without further ado- My most recent purchases:

EcoSkin Bamboo Dress- $60 (usually around $130, ebay purchase- they also had them on hautelook the other day for $68)

White Rosette Dress- $55 (also an ebay purchase, from an antrhopologie sample sale)

Both are oh so pretty and I love them. I think I'm going to dye the rosette dress though- I haven't decided what color... Any suggestions? I love the ivory- I just suck with ivory.

Oh, and the husband is an amazing creature. He bought me the Lewis Carrol book for our anniversary AND indian food. I love him ever so much!

I loved reading this and thought I would share...

The following is an actual question given on a University of Washington engineering mid-term. The answer was so "profound" that the Professor shared it with colleagues, and the sharing obviously hasn't ceased...

Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or Endothermic (absorbs heat)?

Most of the students wrote Proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law, (gas cools off when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following:

"First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate that souls are moving into Hell and the rate they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let us look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Some of these religions state that if you are not a member of their religion, you will go to Hell. Since there are more than one of these religions and since people do not belong to more than one religion, we can project that all souls go to Hell. With birth and death rates as they are, we can expect the number of souls in Hell to increase exponentially.

Now, we look at the rate of change of the volume in Hell because Boyle's Law states that in order for the temperature and pressure in Hell to stay the same, the volume of Hell has to expand as souls are added. This gives two possibilities:

1. If Hell is expanding at a slower rate than the rate at which souls enter Hell, then the temperature and pressure in Hell will increase until all Hell breaks loose.

2. Of course, if Hell is expanding at a rate faster than the increase of souls in Hell, then the temperature and pressure will drop until Hell freezes over.

So which is it?

If we accept the postulate given to me by Teresa Banyan during my Freshman year, "...that it will be a cold day in Hell before I sleep with you.", and take into account the fact that I still have not succeeded in having sexual relations with her, then, #2 cannot be true, and thus I am sure that Hell is exothermic and will not freeze."

This student received the only A.

If my husband loved me...

So it's almost August. We were married August 16th, 2008- you know what that means?!

It's almost the big ONE! Yeah, we've made it through our first year of marriage. Miraculous. I gave us a few months... but look at us... 1 year. SUCCESS!

So yeah, I hear that the hubs is supposed to provide me with a gift for this momentous occasion- knowing mine, he probably won't. He's not a big gift giver which is A-OK with me- I'm always much happier giving to others (as well as myself :). Plus, I don't want to make this anniversary thing yet another excuse to spend money- trust me, we don't need excuses.

But if he were to get me a little something, he would so know I've had my eye on

But...

If he were to...

I've always wanted this book, but haven't been willing to spend the 17 dollars to order it. Shopping sabbatical. Ugh...

Review: J. Crew Falling Petals Jacket

So I wrote a few days ago about my most recent purchases- one of which was the J. Crew falling petals jacket. This jacket originally ran $240.00- I snagged it on final sale for $104.00

My review:
I would not have paid $240 for this jacket, and I feel bad for the poor saps who did. The jacket is unlined, meaning the shantung is see through (which is likely why j crew put the model in a long sleeved top and this jacket for the "summer" collection). My other concern is it's a very delicate jacket- I'm afraid this one isn't going to last long. I wish it came in a more durable color as well.
On the positive, it is a really beautiful piece. Am I glad I bought this item? I still haven't decided. It fits me a bit snug (even though I ordered a size up) so I think I need a few months to sit on this one. I love the concept though, and it has a special place in my closet. :)

So excited for J. Crew's fall new arrivals!!!! (Why do they do this to me during a shopping sabbatical?)

I have always liked j crew's spring/summer line. In the words of Rachel Zoe, when I see the fall/winter line, "I die." I love them... every year. I always adopt a few of my favorite pieces into my wardrobe once they hit the final sale. Here are some of the items I plan on purchasing at some point- (I'm writing this to do a comparison. Sometimes after watching items for a few months, I stop loving them. Hence the reason I wait for FINAL SALE)

After posting some pictures, I was thinking about what I added last year. Off the top of my head I know I added the Carrie Car Coat(black), 2 cashmere turtle neck sweaters (blue and fuchsia), Super 120's Pencil Skirt (navy), Super 120's suiting dress (black), sherpa hoodie, a few t-shirts, yoga zip up, and some black leather pumps I purchased off eBay. Out of those items everything except the sherpa hoodie and t-shirts are in good condition.

Wow. When I write it all out, it's quite a bit. Fortunately, I bought everything on final sale with an extra 20 percent off. Hopefully J Crew will run the extra 30 percent off around Christmas again :)

Pictures I like that I had saved on my computer... A totally random post

I have little idea where any of these images came from- if they are yours post a comment and I'd be more than happy to remove/give credit per your request.

I love these photos. I'm obsessed weddings and home design- and save random images on my computer for inspiration. I secretly hope my sister gets married soon so I can plan her wedding!

My most recent buys.. I'm such a bad girl.

This week was deal week. I made three purchases, maybe I shouldn't have, but couldn't resist. Two came from ebay at what I like to think were super discounts, and one was purchased from j.crew's final sale (with an extra 20 percent off! Yeah!) So here they are, the newest additions to my wardrobe:

Diane Von Furstenberg Black Domina Dress- Ebay find

J. Crew Falling Petals Blazer- w/ Extra 20% off 104.00

J crew Wool Madeline dress- Usually around $190, ebay steal @ $50.00

I love these purchases, and think they'll be pieces I keep forever. The Falling Petals jacket is a bit of a risk for me (not my usual style) but it's ever so pretty- and you can't go wrong with two classic dresses.
